Aer Lingus MD-11

World Airways, N272WA, was operated during its entire history from new to final flight with World Airways. The aircraft was wet-leased multiple years with Garuda Indonesian and Malaysian during their annual Hadj programs and also flew several summer tours with Aer Lingus, during which time we called her ‘The Pickle.’ During these seasonal operations, we had Aer Lingus flight attendant crews with us. Throughout her life, this aircraft was exclusively operated by World Airways, with World cockpit crews right up to the final demise of the company in late March 2014. I was on the final crew, who flew her from Baltimore to Goodyear, AZ (under ILFC contract) for storage at the end of March 2014 and the aircraft was ultimately broken up there. She served us at World Airways very well to the end.
