Amsterdam-based Air Holland was founded in 1984 by airline baron John Block. The carrier provided charter services for tour operators in the Netherlands to holiday destinations, as well as flights to the Dutch Antilles on behalf of Air Aruba. Financial difficulties caused Air Holland to temporarily suspend operations in 1991, only to resume service by year’s end. Further financial problems would cause the carrier to permanently cease operations in March of 2004 – Stephan J. Cox
