Avensa was created on in 1943, as a cargo airline by a Venezuelan businessman, and Pan American World Airways. They started by carrying cargo with two Ford Trimotors. Passenger service began in 1944. Avensa was headquartered in Caracas. After some financial restructuring, it went into bankruptcy due to poor management in 2002.
